Kab's links to the best free e-mail service and website providers around!

Free E-Mail
Email.com- E-mail service provided by NBC's Snap. One of my personal favourites. Easy setup with a few handy links (and a few not-so-handy links). Has lower reliability than most other web-based e-mail, however.
Hotmail- One of the most popular e-mail services on the net. Over seventy-three kabillion served (no joke), so you'll have a hard time getting a unique name. Secure servers and relatively uncluttered layout. Has an annoying habit of taking you to a web-portal once you log out, though.
Yahoo! Mail- Another popular provider. Comes with a Yahoo! ID so you can Yahoo! chat and use other nifty Yahoo! functions. Good layout and good service.
Mailcity- One of the more generic web-based services. Decent service and all that. Only go here if you really want that unique name or you want forty-six e-mail addresses.
MailExcite- Nothing to be excited about here. Same deal as Mailcity.
Topmail.de- If you speak German, this is your site. And it's still not that great (layout's annoying).

Free Website Providers
FortuneCity- Well, I just had to put my provider first! A solid service with a fantastic 100 MB of space for you to play with, including FTP, and free e-mail to spare (it has your address @fcmail.com). Almost seems like the European version of Geocities. Reliability is fairly solid.
Geocities- The most popular deal on the 'Net (yes, I'm sure they have a kabillion costumers, too). They combined with Yahoo, although I'm not sure that's good. Last I heard, they were giving out 11 MB of space, although I'm sure that could've changed. Has e-mail service, also. Hundreds of "neighbourhoods" and thousands of little "houses" in these neighbourhoods. After all, it's a city.
Angelfire- Affiliated with Lycos. Gives out 5 MB of room (which is adequate in most cases) and e-mail. Organized by state (interesting).
Tripod- I haven't used this one in the longest time. I think it gives out 5 (maybe 6?) MB and has decent (I won't say generic) service.
